Templates

A template is a design you keep, so every new visual of that kind starts with your colours, fonts, layout and author credit already in place instead of from scratch.

Templates matter most to teams and agencies that want every profile's visuals to look alike: an admin or marketer sets up the design once, and everyone who creates media starts from it. A solo creator uses them to stop rebuilding the same carousel every week.

How templates work

The Templates tab of Media holds your workspace's saved templates. Every template belongs to one format: Carousel, Photo overlay, Infographic, Quote, Tweet, Meme or Holding a sign.

There are two kinds:

  • Designs (carousels, quotes, tweets, photo overlays, memes) store the whole layout. You edit them on the media canvas, exactly like a piece of media.
  • AI recipes (Infographic, Holding a sign) store the instruction Scripe generates from. You edit their prompt instead of a canvas.

A template is available to every profile, or to one profile you choose. Anyone who can open that profile can use it.

Default templates

Each format can have one default template per workspace. When Scripe makes a carousel for you, it starts from your default carousel template. Set it with Make default in a template's … menu, or with Default template in the template editor. A default carousel and a default quote card can exist side by side; making one template the default only replaces the previous default of the same format.

Creating a template

  1. Start

In Media → Templates, press New template or the Add template card.

  2. Pick a starting point

Choose a format and one of the popular templates, the same choice Create media offers.

  3. Say what to change

Describe what your version should do differently, for example "our colours, a bolder headline". The instruction is required; it stays with the template. Or press Use without any changes to save the template as it is and design it yourself on the canvas.

The new template appears in your Templates right away, and under My templates whenever you create media.

Editing a template

Click a template to open it. A design opens on the media canvas, where everything you change is saved to the template. In its properties you set which profiles may use it and whether it is the default; Create media starts a new piece from it straight away.

An AI recipe opens a small window where you change its prompt and press Save changes.

Hover a template for Create media, or open its … menu for Make default, Duplicate template and Delete template.

Deleting a template removes it for everyone who could use it, right away. Media you already made from it stays.

Filtering

Filter on the Templates tab offers Profile, Format and Is default. Default templates come first, then the rest in your order.

Limits and plans

Templates are on every plan that can create media. Anyone who can open a template's profile can edit it; no admin role is needed. Agency clients do not see Media or templates.
