Schedule and publish

Publish in the post editor sends a post to LinkedIn: at your profile's next free posting time, at a date and time you choose, or right away. Nothing goes live until you confirm.

This page is for everyone who publishes from Scripe: a solo creator scheduling their own week, a team member whose post may need approval first, and an admin or agency publishing for a profile they manage.

Your three choices

Press Publish in the top right of the editor. The popover offers:

ChoiceWhat happens
Next availableScripe schedules the post for the profile's next free posting time, shown as the detail line, for example "Tomorrow, Sep 30 · 9:00 AM". The button reads Schedule for that time.
NowThe post goes live on LinkedIn right away. The button reads Publish now. There is no second confirmation.
Set date and timeOpens a calendar where you pick any day and time, then Schedule post.

How Scripe picks the next available time

Scripe follows the profile's posting days and times (the profile's settings → Post times). It takes the next posting time that is free: a time already taken by another scheduled post is skipped, and so is a day that already holds a planned post or idea. When the profile has no posting times, Scripe suggests the next free 9:00 from tomorrow on.

The calendar under Set date and time is the same month view as on your Home: you see the lanes of the posts already planned, your goal period and previews of other posts, so you can place this one where it fits. Days before today cannot be picked.

Timezone

The popover works in your computer's timezone and shows it under the calendar (Timezone:). Your Posts calendar shows each post in its own profile's timezone. Both describe the same moment: a post scheduled for 9:00 in Berlin appears at 9:00 in a Berlin profile's calendar, whatever the timezone of the person who scheduled it. Changing a profile's timezone later never moves a scheduled post.

After you confirm

The popover shows what happened:

  • Scheduled, with Goes live and the date. Update changes the time; Unschedule takes the post off the schedule.
  • Published, with View post to open it on LinkedIn. It can take a few minutes to show in your feed.

Below it, your goal for this period fills in for the post you just added, lane by lane (Reach, Trust and Convert). When the post completes a lane's goal, or the whole period's, the chart says so. The chart is left out when the profile has no goal for that period.

Editing a scheduled post

You can keep editing after you schedule. Scripe reads the post when it publishes it, so the text and media as they are at that moment go out.

Unscheduling

Unschedule removes the date, puts the post back to your workspace's default draft status, and returns its team engagement to editable drafts. The post itself and everything in it stay.

What "published" means

A post counts as published when LinkedIn has it on your profile. Before Scripe sends a post with images, it checks that LinkedIn has finished processing every image; an image LinkedIn could not process stops the post instead of sending it without the picture. Scripe also fits a very large image to what LinkedIn accepts (JPG, PNG or GIF, under 36 megapixels and 8 MB) before it uploads it.

A scheduled post that cannot be sent stays Scheduled with no link to LinkedIn. Scripe keeps trying for 24 hours after the scheduled time. After that it stops, and you schedule the post again from the editor.

Before you can schedule

  • LinkedIn must be connected for the profile. If it is not, the popover says so and offers Connect LinkedIn to schedule (or Reconnect LinkedIn when the connection expired). After you sign in to LinkedIn you come back to the same choice. See LinkedIn connection.
  • A company page needs a workspace user who is an admin of the page on LinkedIn and has a working connection.
  • The post needs text. The button is disabled for an empty post.

Posts that need approval

An admin can switch on Require review workflow under Settings → Post Statuses (Business plan). Once it is on, moving a post to Scheduled or Published on the Posts board, and scheduling or publishing through Ask Scripe, Claude or another connected AI tool, is then refused until the post has an approved review. The message names the reviewer you are waiting for, or tells you to assign one. Reviews are requested in the editor; see The post editor.

On a plan without reviews (below Advanced) the setting has no effect, because nobody could approve the post.

The editor's own Publish button does not check the requirement. A post waiting for review can still be scheduled there by someone with access to it.

Limits

  • One video, one PDF, or up to 20 images per post; never mixed. See Add media to a post.
  • A scheduled post is retried for 24 hours after its time.

When it goes wrong

  • "The post says Scheduled, but it never appeared on LinkedIn." The LinkedIn connection expired or LinkedIn refused the post. Reconnect LinkedIn, then schedule the post again.
  • "This post was not published" in the editor. LinkedIn could not process the attached image or video thumbnail. Replace it with a JPG or PNG under 36 megapixels and 8 MB, then publish again.
  • "Why is my image not on the published post?" Scripe does not publish a post whose image LinkedIn failed to process, so a post that is live and missing its image usually had the image removed or replaced before it went out, or the picture was deleted from Media more than 30 days before the post's time. Check the post in the editor and re-attach it.
  • "Next available is greyed out." Scripe could not read the profile's posting times. Use Set date and time, and check the profile's Post times.
