Add media to a post
Every post in the editor has one media slot under the text. Fill it with pictures from your library, a new upload, a visual Scripe creates for you, a video, a PDF or a poll, and edit it right there.
This page is for everyone who writes posts in Scripe.
Adding media
Press Add media to your post under the text. You get two choices:
- Add media: pick from your library, upload, or create.
- Poll: ask your network a question.
Add media opens a window with three tabs:
| Tab | What it holds |
|---|---|
| Library | Your uploads and the images from your LinkedIn posts. |
| Created | Visuals Scripe made with you. |
| Stock | Photos (Unsplash) and GIFs (Giphy). |
Search, upload from your computer, or press Create media to make a new visual for this post; see Create media. Select one or more items and press Attach. Selected images sit in a tray at the bottom where you drag them into the order they appear on LinkedIn.
The editor may show a Media suggestion, the kind of visual that suits this post; it is a hint, not a requirement.
What a post can carry
LinkedIn allows one kind of media per post, and Scripe holds to the same rules:
| Media | Limit |
|---|---|
| Images | Up to 20 per post, each up to 25 MB. Any image format except SVG. |
| Carousel (PDF) | One per post, up to 100 MB. A Scripe carousel goes out as a LinkedIn document. |
| Video | One per post. MP4 only, between 75 KB and 400 MB, between 3 seconds and 30 minutes. |
| Poll | A question of up to 140 characters, 2 to 4 options of up to 30 characters each, open for 1, 3, 7 or 14 days. |
You cannot mix them: images, a video, a document and a poll each fill the slot on their own. A poll is offered only while the slot is empty.
A video can have its own title and a custom thumbnail (JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB). A PDF can have a document title.
Editing attached media
Click the media in the post to open Edit media. Pictures and Scripe-made visuals open on the media canvas, inside the post:
- Each picture is a page, labelled Media 1, Media 2 and so on. Click the label to rename it; the name is also the picture's alt text, which LinkedIn reads out to people using screen readers.
- Crop, add text or shapes, recolour, or ask Scripe to change a picture, as on the media canvas.
- Add new media, Remove media and the move buttons change which pictures the post carries and in what order.
Your changes are saved to a copy under Created in Media. The original picture in your library is never changed. A carousel you change here is updated on the post when you close the window.
Videos and plain PDFs do not open the canvas; you change their title instead.
Removing media
Delete media on the attached media takes it off the post. Pictures from your library stay in your library.
Add more media adds pictures to the ones already attached.
Plans
Adding media and polls is on every plan. Creating new visuals uses your workspace's AI usage; see Plans.
When it goes wrong
- "Which video formats can I upload?" MP4 only. Convert a .mov or other file to MP4 first.
- "My image is missing from the published post." LinkedIn could not process it, so Scripe did not publish the post, or the picture was removed before the post went out. See Schedule and publish.
- "I can't add a poll." The post already has media. Remove it first.
- "I can't add a second carousel." A post carries exactly one carousel, or images.
