Product Guide · Find Ideas
Following sources
Follow the people and publications your audience reads, and Scripe watches them for you: their new posts and articles appear in Explore, and whatever fits your profile becomes a post idea in For you.
Sources matter to everyone who writes. A solo creator follows the voices in their field, a marketer follows competitors and analysts, an agency follows each client's market for that client's profiles. Agency clients do not see sources.
What you can follow
| Source | How to add it | What reaches Scripe |
|---|---|---|
| A LinkedIn creator | Search by name, or paste their profile URL | Their posts, in the Explore feed |
| A newsletter or blog | Paste its address or its RSS feed | Each new article |
| A YouTube channel | Paste the channel's address | Each new video |
| A website | Paste its address | New pages Scripe finds on it |
Scripe works out how to follow a pasted address. If it finds nothing it can follow, it says We couldn't find anything to subscribe to at this URL.
Sources are different from your knowledge base. A source is something you read to find topics; your knowledge base holds your own material, and synced sources (GitHub, Google Drive, Granola) keep documents there up to date.
What a source feeds
- Explore. A followed creator's posts and a followed publication's articles appear in Posts & Articles. Under the Relevance sort, followed creators are mixed in among the other posts. The Source filter shows only the sources you pick.
- For you. When a source publishes something that fits the profile, Scripe turns it into a post idea. There is no fixed schedule: ideas arrive whenever a source publishes something that fits, and a quiet source produces none.
- Ask Scripe. Ask Scripe can read the items of the sources you follow, so you can ask what a newsletter said this week or attach a source with Add to chat from its ··· menu.
Adding a source
Open Add source
On Explore, press Add source. Choose From a URL to paste an address, or Search LinkedIn profiles to find a creator by name (type at least two letters).
Choose the profiles that follow it
Under Profiles, select every profile this source is for. Scripe creates ideas for those profiles and lists the source on their Explore page. You need at least one.
Add it
Press Add source. A source that is new to Scripe is fetched right away, so its latest items appear without waiting.
The sources page also offers a catalog under All sources: publications Scripe suggests and LinkedIn creators from its post library. Open any of them and press Follow.
The sources page
View all on the Sources row opens every source in scope.
- Followed sources lists what the profiles follow. All sources lists the catalog.
- The switch at the top shows All sources, only LinkedIn creators, only Feeds (newsletters, blogs, YouTube, websites), or Muted sources.
- Followed by narrows the list to the sources a profile follows; Industry narrows the catalog.
Click a source to open its page with all of its posts or articles, a search field, and Follow or Mute.
Muting and unfollowing
Each source's ··· menu offers:
- Mute source: the source stays in your list, but nothing new from it reaches your feed and Scripe stops scanning it for ideas. Find it again under Muted sources and choose Unmute source.
- Unfollow source: the source is removed for the profile.
Both show Undo for a moment afterwards. Ideas a source already produced and that you saved stay on your idea board.
Plans
Following sources is part of every paid plan (Solo, Advanced and Business). On the Free plan the sources page shows a preview and its controls are locked. See Plans.
Edge cases
- Several profiles. A source is followed per profile. On workspace Explore, Add source lets you choose all the profiles at once; the card then says Followed by and their names, or that the whole workspace follows it.
- The same source for two profiles. Scripe fetches it once and shows it to both.
- A creator who posts in another language. Their posts appear unless you set a Language filter on Explore.
- A company page. Explore for a company page alone shows articles from its followed feeds, not LinkedIn posts.
