At the start of 2024, Yves-André Mahler faced a pivotal moment in his career. As the Sales Team Lead at Mystery Minds, he realized their inbound leads were slowing down, and outbound strategies were lacking.
Instead of looking for a new job, he made a bold decision: going all-in on LinkedIn.
The result after 10 months: 4.5 million impressions, over a million unique users reached, 10,000+ new followers, and a steady flow of enterprise leads.
LinkedIn didn’t just help grow his business. It reshaped his personal brand, leading to speaking engagements, podcast invitations, and industry recognition as a Personio HR Top Voice.
This huge success of Yves’ personal brand growth was the result of a strategic, disciplined approach that anyone can replicate. Lucky us, because Yves shared his step-by-step breakdown on how to generate reach and grow a personal brand on LinkedIn super effectively.
Here’s how he did it:
4.5 Million Impressions on LinkedIn in 10 Months - The Step-by-Step from Yves-André Mahler:
1. Define what success looks like for you on LinkedIn
Many professionals jump into LinkedIn without a clear goal – so there’s no way to measure or track success.
That’s why, Yves’ first step was defining what success meant for him. Was it about generating leads? Building employer branding? Attracting PR opportunities?
For him, the objective was clear: To use his personal brand on LinkedIn to connect him with enterprise decision-makers. That focus shaped every post, every interaction, and every decision he made on the platform.
2. Craft a LinkedIn profile that stands out
Before posting anything, Yves ensured his profile was fully optimized. First impressions matter, and on LinkedIn, a profile serves as a professional storefront. A high-resolution photo, a clear and compelling headline, and a well-structured “About” section helped set him apart.
His LinkedIn banner wasn’t just a background image: it reinforced his personal brand. Whether someone chooses a personal or business-oriented approach, Yves emphasizes that a banner should instantly communicate what it stands for.
At Scripe, we also preach that having a great purpose statement on your headline is essential to making an immediate impact. A strong headline should clearly convey what you do, who you help, and why it matters (essentially acting as your professional tagline).
It’s not just about listing a job title; it’s about positioning yourself as a solution to a specific problem.
A well-crafted headline can attract the right audience, spark curiosity, and encourage more profile visits, which ultimately leads to stronger engagement and networking opportunities.
3. Master the art of meaningful community engagement on LinkedIn
One of the most effective ways to gain traction on LinkedIn isn’t just by posting, it’s through meaningful community engagement. It is a social media, after all.
Before Yves even started publishing content consistently, he made it a habit to engage with industry leaders by leaving thoughtful comments on their posts. Instead of generic reactions like “Great post!”, he added personal insights, asked follow-up questions, and contributed to discussions.
This approach not only increased his visibility but also helped him build genuine relationships within his industry.
4. Treat LinkedIn like a magazine
We loved this tip from Yves: Think of your LinkedIn content as your own publication. Yves established a strict posting schedule: Monday to Friday at 7:30 AM, no exceptions.
His strategy:
➡️ Choose 2-3 core themes (e.g., remote work, employee engagement)
➡️ Post consistently to build audience expectations.
➡️ Ensure clarity and structure: every post should have a hook, story, and key takeaway.
Maintaining this level of consistency required a structured workflow, and that’s where Scripe became an essential tool. Instead of manually drafting and scheduling every post, Yves leveraged Scripe to streamline his content creation process.
By using Scripe’s AI-powered writing assistant, he was able to generate post ideas, refine drafts, and ensure his messaging remained consistent across all his content.
By treating LinkedIn like a well-managed publication and leveraging Scripe’s automation capabilities, Yves was able to stay ahead without feeling overwhelmed by the demands of daily posting.
5. Leverage LinkedIn’s Growth Potential
Yves compares LinkedIn today to Instagram in its early days: where organic growth is still achievable.
He actively connected with relevant professionals in his industry each week, but he avoided aggressive sales pitches. Instead, he built real connections by sending simple welcome messages and, when relevant, suggesting virtual coffee chats. These small yet meaningful interactions compounded over time, expanding his reach and influence.
6. LinkedIn is the Space to Experiment, track & iterate
Different post formats generate different types of engagement. When Yves started building his personal brand, he focused on text-based posts paired with engaging images, as they performed well.
Over time, he experimented with carousels and videos, which further boosted his visibility on LinkedIn. The key, he found, was testing different formats to see what resonated most with his audience.
To continuously improve his performance, Yves tracked key metrics from day one.
Initially, he logged everything in an Excel sheet: post topics, engagement rates, and follower growth. As his strategy evolved, he turned to Scripe to automate the process. Scripe’s analytics helped him identify high-performing topics, allowing him to double down on content that worked best.
How AI helped Yves scale Content Creation to build his Personal Brand
While every LinkedIn post was uniquely his, Yves used AI tools like Scripe to streamline his workflow to grow his personal brand. Scripe helped him refine drafts, generate post ideas, and repurpose existing content, all while maintaining his authentic tone.
However, just like we do at Scripe, he emphasizes that AI is a tool, not a replacement for originality. He used it to enhance efficiency, not to define his voice.
The Takeaway to build a successful personal brand on LinkedIn: Consistency is Key
If there’s one thing Yves learned, it’s that LinkedIn success isn’t about a single viral post. It’s about showing up consistently.
Many professionals hesitate to post because they overthink their content. His advice? Just start. LinkedIn posts don’t need to be perfect; they just need to be out there.
By engaging daily, refining his messaging, and leveraging tools like Scripe, Yves transformed LinkedIn from a simple social network into his most relevant driver to generate leads.
